In honor of Andrew McFarlane and Danny "Magoo"...

After the tragic news of the departure of Andrew McFarlane and Danny “Magoo” Chandler, this weekend’s Portuguese Grand Prix will pay tribute to these greatshow more sportsmen who conquered lots of fans during their successful careers. After the accident provoking the death of Motocross rider Andrew McFarlane of Australia whilst racing his National Championship on May 2 at Broadford, the bikes racing the Grand Prix of Portugal this weekend will feature the shark logo of the Australian on the number plate. A one minute of silence will be organized before the start of the first MX2 heat scheduled for 12:10 on Sunday, May 9, to publicly remember both riders. The likeable Australian had a stunning career in Motocross, leading the MX2 World Championship before Cairoli won it in 2005, winning Grand Prix’s and pole positions. He passed away at the age of 32. 50 year old American “Magoo” Chandler was known for his spectacular riding style. He won several National Titles, Grand Prix (including a US Grand Prix in 1982) and one Motocross of Nations before picking up an injury in 1985 which left him paralyzed until the day he passed away on May 4.     Youthstream and Co. should do some spendings to the families of these great riders. What would the MX Worldchampionship be without riders like Andrew ? Nothing. The racers risk their life...not the promoters.
