Thrills and spills from first ever Red Bull Rampage
In 2001, Red Bull Rampage arrived. It transformed and legitimized the world of freeride mountain biking. The pioneers of the sport took the freeriding styleshow more they developed — in areas like Canada's west coast — to the mountains outside Virgin, Utah, and competed for the first time on a raw, undeveloped, steep section of desert without trails or infrastructure. Year 1 was about survival. "Can we ride it?" was a questions that took the world's best riders to the absolute limit of the sport, hucking cliffs and pioneering new lines that would change the sport of mountain biking forever.
