Winter X Games Could Be Coming Back To Europe!

Norway wants to bring action sports' biggest contest back across the pond.

Action sports fans across the world mourned the loss of X Games in 2013 when it was announced that all events outside of the USA would be cancelled, including Winter and Summer competitions in France, Spain, Germany and Brazil.

But there could still be some life in the idea of an international X Games calendar after Norwegian capital Oslo took a step closer to bringing the Winter X Games back to Europe.

The city council approved the plan to fund and host the event yesterday and, if ESPN can come to an agreement with a television partnership in Norway, the Northern European country could host an X Games for the first time in February 2016 - and potentially beyond.

It's the perfect place on the continent for X Games to return to with some of the world's best snowboarders calling the Scandinavian country home. Silje Norendal and Torstein Horgmo both have three gold medals each while Stale Sandbech has picked up four medals in the last three years.

In less than a year we could be watching them shred on the biggest stage here in Europe. Watch this space - and keep your fingers, toes and skis crossed.
