Is this the best run in Freeride World Tour history?

Sam Smoothy won the third round of the Freeride World Tour in Andorra this week with one of the craziest lines in the event’s history.

The New Zealand skier stunned the judges by hitting huge features in the most exposed section of the Grandvalira face, to earn a massive score of 91.25.

His top section was easily the gnarliest of the weekend but he continued to slay the difficult, hard-packed conditions right to the bottom – including a miraculous save on his final hit.

And the line is being hailed as one of the most spectacular the Freeride World Tour has ever seen. What do you think?

Smoothy’s epic run helped him beat Jeremie Heitz to the top spot, with current overall leader Reine Barkered in third. In the women’s event Hazel Birnbaum beat overall points leader Eva Walkner and Francesca Pavillard-Cain to the win.

In snowboarding Jonathan Charlet took the title in Andorra with Flo Orley and Ralph Backstrom completing the podium. Estelle Balet took the women’s winner’s medal ahead of Elodie Mouthon and Shannan Yates.

After visiting Andorra for the first time this weekend the Tour is now preparing for a debut trip to Alaska – which will also be LIVE on Extreme.com.

Not all the riders will be boarding the plane to the freeriding Mecca, with only the top 16 male skiers, eight male snowboarders, seven female skiers and five female boarders qualifying for round four.

But with the monstrous Alaskan lines on offer would it be a surprise if we saw one of them go even bigger than Smoothy did this weekend?
